Alan W. " Woody " Mandeville 77 of Penfield Township passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on September 18, 2019 following a lengthy illness. He was born January 31, 1942 to the late Joe & Alice Mandeville. Woody worked for Don Beal Construction, Inc in Elyria as a machine operator, eventually retiring from B.F.I. in Oberlin . An avid snowmobile and racing enthusiast, Woody drove Rat Racers at the Lorain County Speedway, where he won the mid-season championship in 1968. In the 1970's, he raced a late model car at the Barberton Speedway before moving on to race " Bankrupt Bound " , a 4 wheel drive pull truck at many Ohio State Truck Pulls. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Kathie, sister Eileen ( Gary ) Bridgett of Okeechobee, Fl, sons David Mandeville and Steve ( Laura ) Mandeville of Penfield. Survivors also include grandchildren Alan D. ( Julie ) Mandeville, Maren ( Brian ) Duelley and Kenny Mandeville, step grandchildren Amy ( Bob ) Richards, Jack Resar, Jason ( Jackie ) Resar, Justin Leiby and Steven ( Kristen ) Leiby, great grandchildren Kelsey ( Elijah) Kanaval, Logan Duelley, Alyssa Stuart, Madison Stuart, great great grandson Julian Kanaval, brother -in-law Willie ( Debbie ) Szabo, sister-in-law Janet Szabo and many nieces and nephews. Woody was preceded in death by his parents Joe & Alice Mandeville, brother-in-law David Szabo and great nephew Toby J. Honoshofsky .Friends may call on Monday September 23, 2019 from 10 AM until funeral services at 1 PM in the Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Assoc. or to the American Lung Assoc. Woody's son Steve invites all of his Dad's "buddies " that could not join the family at the service to join him for " a drink on Woody " at 40489 Jones Rd.
