Betty J. Hawke

Betty J. Hawke( nee Lyons ), age 99 of Grafton went home to be with the Lord on June 28, 2020 . She was born June 18, 1921 in Eaton Township and lived in the Grafton-Eaton area all of her life. She graduated from Eaton High School in 1939 and from the Oberlin School of Commerce. She worked at Ridge Tool and the Midview Board of Education, retiring in 1984.Mrs. Hawke was the oldest member of the North Eaton Christian Church and a founding member of the Rebekah Circle in 1948. She enjoyed entertaining family, traveling to Florida for 20 years, playing cards and watching sports. She is survived by her children Richard ( Cathy ) Hawke, Dale ( Becky ) Hawke  of Grafton and by Barbara ( Don ) Gustovich of Texas. Survivors also include her grandchildren Troy ( Bridgette ) Hawke, and Mark ( Julie ) Hawke  of Elyria, Tara ( Kevin ) Vanderground, Tracy ( Cliff ) Grace and Amy ( Matt ) Jones of Indiana, Shelley ( Chris ) Ewton and Bryan ( Carla ) Gustovich of Texas and Matthew ( Michelle ) Hawke of Grafton, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Survivors also include her brother Jim ( Barbara ) Lyons of Monroe, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her beloved  husband of 59 years Richard Hawke ( deceased 3-13-2004 ), parents Jack and Nell ( Squire ) Lyons and her brother John Lyons. Family and friends may call in the Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton on Wednesday July 1, 2020 from 12:00 Noon until services at 1 PM. Burial will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice.
