Beverly A. Arndt, age 83 of Wellington and formerly of Grafton passed away Monday May 16, 2022 in the Elms Retirement Center in Wellington following a long illness. She was the oldest of three daughters to Richard and Stella Parle.
Bev graduated from Holy Name and had.
worked for Ohio Bell early in her life.
When Grafton had no Ambulance service she started privately owned Grafton Ambulance. Her and some friends went to EMT school, bought a used Ambulance, and ran/dispatched it out of the family home. Later moved it to Lagrange under the name Midcounty Ambulance until the Fire Departments running EMS came to be. She also worked for many years for Allen Memorial Hospital EMS.
Volunteered for New Life Hospice And Elyria Hospital where she started the book cart which she was very proud of. She also spent some time as a Lorain County Sheriff Auxillary.
The jobs she enjoyed most was dispatching for L.C. Sheriff's Office, Grafton Police and especially LC 911.
There was sometimes in these last couple years she could be heard randomly saying numbers and even saying "out" and "copy".
Beverly will be warmly remembered for her wit, her sense of humor, her laugh and her caring heart. She knew people everywhere she went and was a supportive friend to all of them.
Survived by daughters Jill Michalak of Wellington and Shelley Nowak (Matt) of Berea. Son Jamie Marquardt who is currently working out of state, sister Peggy of Stow. Many nieces, nephews and friends.
Survived by grandchildren Derek, Derel, Abbie, Adam, Nathan, Erica, Stephanie, Andy and Erin. Also 8 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Marty, daughter Sharon, sister Kathy and her cat "Sam I Am". Friends may call in the Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton on Friday May 20, 2022 from 9:30 AM until 11: 30 AM. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Sharp in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 10175 Rawiga Rd. Seville , Ohio. Please meet at the cemetery.
