Carlos R. Backus Sr.

Carlos Robert Backus Sr, 83, devoted husband, loving father & pepa, of Elyria, OH passed away on Saturday March 11, 2023 surrounded by family. 

Robert was born on May 17, 1939 in Vaughan, West Virginia to Madiline Neal and Abner Backus. High school graduate of Clay County High school in West Virginia. 

Retired from Sunshine Farm / ConSun Foods after 36 years. He enjoyed flea marketing at Jamie’s and garage sales. 

Preceded in death by wife Brenda Sue Backus (Williamson) of 52 years. 

He is survived by daughters Brenda S. Mahilo of Lagrange, Patty Rummel of Avon, and son Carlos R. Backus Jr (Bob) of Elyria & grandchildren Ashley Taylor of Sheffield, Jason Mahilo of LaGrange, Jonathan Mahilo of Lagrange, Zachary Backus of Elyria, Garrett Backus of Elyria. 

Visitation will be held at Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton OH 44044 on Tuesday March 14th from 6pm-8pm  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 15th at 11am. in 

 the funeral home. Burial will be in Nesbett Cemetery, Grafton Township.
