Connie R. Garber (nee Chester), 79, of Lagrange, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 2, 2019. She was born in Lorain, Ohio April 28, 1940. Connie was a 1958 graduate of Avon High School. She raised her family in Vermilion before moving to Lagrange 15 years ago.
Connie was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lagrange. She enjoyed gardening and was a former member of the Vermilion Garden Club and had earned her title of Master Gardener. Connie and her husband were always involved with children, including fostering, adopting and being active in many different groups throughout the years. She enjoyed creating handmade cards for family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her favorite time of year was Christmas, especially making memories by hosting her grandchildren at "Grandma’s Christmas".
Connie is survived by son, Ed (Mary) Garber of Port Clinton and daughter Jody (Tod) White of Lagrange; grandchildren Katy Garber, Austin (Anne) Garber; Jennifer Gerbick, Lindsey Gerbick, Nathan White, great-grandchildren Jenna White and Beckett Layman; brother Bill (Donna) Chester of West Pueblo, Colorado.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, of 46 years, Don Garber; and parents William and Edna (nee Buell) Chester.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church designated to the Mary/Marsha Missionary Group.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 8, 2019 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Duke Funeral Home, 1021 Main Street, Grafton OH. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Lagrange, 200 Church Street, Lagrange, officiated by Pastor Noel Hack. Family burial will follow.
