Edward F. Stevenson, 98, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on September 18, 2025. Born August 28, 1927, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ed was the son of John and Florence (Klase) Stevenson.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Ed served in the South Pacific during World War II. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Audrey Nordquist, and together they built a family rooted in love, resilience, and community. Ed was a devoted father to four children and a guiding presence in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Ed embodied service. He spent several years as a Boy Scout Leader, was a 32nd degree mason and member of the El Rey Grotto, El Koran in Cleveland, a Scottish Rite Shriner, member of Grafton VFW Post #3341, the American Legion , the Lagrange Masonic Lodge and proudly served as Chief of the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years, retiring as Chief in1994, also serving as an EMT —roles that reflected his deep commitment to mentorship, camaraderie, and public safety. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of the Pymatuning Sportsman Club.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Stevenson, his son Robert A. Stevenson, and his grandson Marcus Stevenson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years Audrey; daughters Diane Lee (John,) Linda Thompson (Doug,) and Kathy Stevenson; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy of strength and kindness.
Ed will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his generous spirit, and his quiet leadership. His life was a testament to service, and his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him. Visitation will be Monday September 22, 2025 from 11AM until services at 12 Noon in the Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton. Burial will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
