Edward William Straub 78, a lifelong resident of Avon Ohio, son of Edward C and Margaret (Kinzel) Straub, passed away Sunday September 7, 2025 at Cleveland Clinic Hospice, Avon Ohio, after a short illness. Ed is survived by his son Christopher Straub, Grandson Nicholas Straub and Granddaughter Cheyenne Straub all of Seattle, Washington, daughter Juniper Duffin ( estranged ), Sister Elaine (Clayton Cook deceased). Nieces and nephews and network of close lifelong friends.
Ed was a graduate of Avon High School and participated in AHS band. After High School Ed became a member of the US Navy, ATKRON, VA-174 "Hellrazors", from 1966 to 1969 working on the Corsair A7 aircraft. After his military service he became tool and die maker at Ridge Tool Company in Elyria, OH and from there embarked on a series of adventures throughout his action filled life. Ed took a special interest in music and could always be heard listening to, playing and quoting music lyrics. Ed's favorite saying was "Peace, Love and Rock and Roll".
The family would like to extend a special "Thank you" to all of the caring Nurses, Aids, Chaplains and Hospice care at Cleveland Clinic Avon. Their attention to detail and positive attitudes was paramount in Ed having the best end-of-life care one could ask for. In addition, we would love to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Avon Senior Center staff for their role in assisting Ed with his challenges.
A private graveside service will be held at Saint Mary of The Immaculate Conception for close friends and family in Avon, Ohio.
