Ernie D. Walker, 91 of Eaton Township passed away peacefully on Sunday June 16, 2024. He was born in Summersville, WV, post-graduation in 1950 he joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. After serving his country, Ernie had a long and distinguished career as a Scientific Photographer at NASA Glenn Research Center. Throughout his tenure at NASA he worked on a plethora of projects for the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab, and Shuttle space programs. Ernie retired in 1989 and became an Eaton Township Trustee, serving his community for many years. In his spare time Ernie was an avid gardener, built two classic cars, refurbished several John Deere tractors, built long stock muzzleloaders, enjoyed wine making, blacksmithing, woodworking, hunting, camping, and several other hobbies. Ernie was married to Jeanne C. Walker (deceased) for 67 years, and during much of his marriage they enjoyed traveling and exploring the many National Parks. Ernie left behind children Susan J. Walker and Thomas D. Walker (Angela), foster son Joseph DeVito, and two granddaughters Olivia Estridge (Joshua) and Gabrielle Walker. He touched so many lives in a positive way and will be missed tremendously. A celebration of Ernie's life will take place at 10:00am on Monday July 22nd at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic church in Grafton, Ohio; followed by a Mass and lunch will be served afterwards. Burial will be at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township and on-line condolences may be left at www.dukefuneralhome.com. Arrangements are being handled by Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main st. Grafton.
