Evelyn Lacina Obituary

Evelyn (Ubbie) R. Lacina, age 93 of North Ridgeville (Eaton Township) passed away on Saturday January 2, 2021 following a long and joyful life.

She was the beloved daughter of Jack and Alice (Bement) Klein, sister to June, Mrytle & Milly.

Evelyn attended Elyria High School, about that time she met the Love of her life, Frederick A. Lacina Sr. They married on January 13, 1945. She was stationed in the army with him in New Brunswick, NJ. Soon after his discharge, they built their home together on Butternut Ridge "Butternut Farm."

They planted seeds for their crops, but those weren’t the only seeds being planted! Four of them grew to be their beloved children; Jeannie(Lacina-Vance)-Jill, Rick, JoAnne, Nikki, Tracy, Andy, Mindy & Katy. Donna (Larry) Lacina-Janowicz-Teddy, Susie (Eddie) Lacina-McGinty-Jase, and Fred Lacina Jr.

With all of the bountiful family seeds growing, we quickly turned into "All in The Family."

Having a family so large, with everyone’s help, Butternut Farm was able to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to local customers, churches and the Westside Market.

In October, Butternut Farm turns all orange and is known for miles around as "Pumpkin Town USA." Evelyn and Fred loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas they loved their slots and shooting craps. They enjoyed racing their horses at the racetrack. Evelyn enjoyed cooking and hosting family gatherings that quite often took place right in their back yard. Most of all, Evelyn enjoyed farming with her husband and all of her wonderful relatives. Evelyn will always be remembered as a fun-loving role model who was always willing to help family, neighbors, and her church. Always willing to give and asking nothing in return.

Whether family is near or far, Butternut Farm is always home. "You can’t outrun these roots."
Evelyn is welcomed into heaven by her loving husband Frederick Lacina Sr., her sisters Milly Capell, Myrtle Klein, her children Jeannie Lacina-Vance, Frederick Lacina Jr., her grandchildren; Katy Murphy and Andy Sasack, cousin Lucy Bement, nephew Michael Krosky, and great-great grandson AJ Mencini.
