Francis "Franny" Geib Obituary

Francis “Franny” Geib, age 70, of Elyria, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, surrounded by love.

Born on November 26, 1954, Franny lived a life marked by laughter, hard work, deep faith, and unshakable loyalty. He moved often as a child, but he built lasting roots and friendships everywhere he went. Franny served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He continued a life of service long after the military. He was always the first to lend a hand, a joke, or even the shirt off his back.

For 38 years, Franny was a proud union Ironworker with Local 17. A career he was dedicated and passionate about. He retired in 2016. His work ethic was matched only by his zest for life. He had a love for his 4 Harley-Davidson motorcycles, tinkering in the garage, “baking,” dancing, playing music, golfing, scuba diving and exploring the open road. A genuine character with a big heart. Franny never met a stranger — only friends he hadn’t made yet.

Franny was a road clown, RCF, and joker to the end, with a youthful spirit that never faded. He was charismatic, patriotic, and lived by a strong faith that guided him in all he did. Whether leading a dance floor or sharing a laugh, he made life brighter for those around him.

He is survived by his beloved children: Greg (Kelly) Geib, Jenny (Russel) Cataldo, Dalton, and Delaney Geib (Trevor Meilander); grandchildren Cody (Kati), David, Paisley, Trevor and Tucker; and great-grandchildren Brantley, Noah, and Holly.

Franny also leaves behind Terri, his fiancee and “Lovely Assistant”, his boy Blu, his "Identical Cousin " Kelly Laux and his cherished siblings: Bob Geib, Don (Donna) Geib, Davy (Melinda) Therens, Michelle Levesque-Tompkins (children Melissa & Jeffrey Levesque), and a large, loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth (nee. Bassett) Geib, “Lil’ Girl” Star Geib, sisters Barbra Sutherland, Mary Woost; brothers Jeff “Lightnin’” Levesque, James and Rick Geib.

Franny’s legacy is one of laughter, love, and living life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him.

A vigil for Franny will be held at St. Colette Catholic Church 330 West 130th St,  Brunswick on July 26th 2025 at 9:30 followed by a funeral mass at 10:30. A luncheon will be held at Lone Tree in North Ridgeville after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by sharing a story, helping a neighbor, or simply spreading a little kindness, just like Franny would have. Peace and RCF.
