Frank Webber Obituary

Frank E. Webber, 76, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, of natural causes at his home on Sunday, August 14, 2022.

Frank was born and grew up in Elyria, Ohio, but lived most of his adult life at his beloved home in LaGrange, Ohio. He was a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School. From the years 1963-1967, he served honorably, in the United States Army. Frank was honored to serve his country and received numerous medals, including the Army Commendation Medal for exceptionally meritorious service in support of allied counterinsurgency operations in Vietnam.

Frank also was a man of deep conviction and faith. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Elyria for many years where he was very involved, and later attended First Baptist Churches in LaGrange and Elyria.

After retiring from Convenient Food Mart in Elyria, he filled his days doing what he loved, including competitive kayaking, cycling, gardening, reading, caring for his land and spending time with his family and many friends. Frank was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the Keelhaulers, Bradstreet Sea Kayakers, and the president of a herpetology club. He was thrilled to have caught the largest snapping turtle on record in Ohio (more than 60 pounds). His passion for enjoying life to the fullest was evident to everyone who knew him. Frank always had a smile and was known as someone who would do anything for a friend or family member in need.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mildred (nee Shober) Webber, and brothers Edward and James Webber. He will be deeply missed by those surviving him; his daughters, Melanie Webber and Robin Rahim (Rahim); former wife, Vicki Webber; granddaughters, Caira, Anya and Adriana; and brother Richard Webber (Nancy). He also will be deeply missed by the many friends he held dear.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2022, with a memorial service immediately following, at Duke Funeral Home, 1021 Main Street, Grafton, Ohio. A private burial will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.

In honor of Frank’s love for paddling, his daughters ask that any memorial donations be made to the Lake Erie Foundation in lieu of flowers.
