George Frederick Pirkel, age 84, died peacefully at home after a long battle with heart disease. He was surrounded by his family.
George was born on July 22, 1938 in West Terra Haute, IN., to Margaret and Fred Herman Groll. After his Father died his Mother remarried and George was raised by his Step-Father, Lawrence Pirkel.
George had a love for automobiles, especially Mopars and was an avid diesel mechanic at ROSS, where he worked for many years. Besides spending time with family and friends, George had a passion for dancing and loved music. He was a huge Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed watching games on TV. George has a bright and energetic personality and touched many lives with his quick wit and humor.
George is survived by his loving partner, Sharon Spooner, along with his children Tony (Shawnna) Banfield of Elyria, Wendy (Al) Pridemore of Carlise Township, Barbara Pirkel of Elyria, Theodore (Kathleen) Pirkel of Sandusky along 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
It was George’s wish to be cremated. A private family service to be held.. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 1375 E. 9th Street, ste #600, Cleveland, OH. 44114 or one’s favorite charity.
