Helen Walko

Helen Walko, age 97 of Penfield passed away Wednesday January 12, 2022 in the Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin. She was born July 18, 1924  in Cleveland and was a resident of Penfield since the 1940's. She was employed at Western Automatic, Stanadyne Corporation and Moen in Elyria where she retired from.. Helen was an avid Cleveland sports fan of the Cavaliers, Browns and the Indians. She also enjoyed polka music and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. She loved doing word search puzzles daily. She had lived her entire life on the Walko Brothers Farm. Survivors include niece Barbara ( Mark ) Chicotel, she loved dearly and will be greatly and by many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents John & Eva ( nee Barna ) Walko, sisters Betty Moss, Ann Walko, Mary Hibler and by brothers Andrew, Peter, Mike, Frank, William and Harry Walko. Friends may call in the Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton from 12 Noon until prayer service at 1 PM on Tuesday January 18, 2022. Burial will be in Penfield Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Welcome Nursing Home, especially Connie, Cecelia and Tina, for their care and concern. Due to the rampant spread of Covid, masks are required as well as social distancing guidelines. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society , Alzheimer's Association or Dementia Association.
