James A. Cropp, age 84 of Wellington passed away Friday January 9, 2026 in the Elms Retirement Village following a 3 year battle with dementia. James was born December 14, 1941 in Elyria Memorial Hospital to Edgar & Ethel Cropp and was raised in Eaton Township. James is a 1960 graduate of Midview High School. After graduating , he served his country honorably during the Vietnam War from 1962 to 1966 in the USAF. James, after serving his country, married the only love of his life Marilyn ( nee Moran ) and had a son James M. Cropp. They were married over 20 years before cancer took his love away May 27, 1994. He never dated or remarried. He sold cars and semi trucks for over 40 years, 25 years plus for Abers Truck Center. He loved classic cars, trucks and old machinery. He was a dedicated Buick car and GMC truck man.
James was preceded in death by his wife, and by mother-in-law Dorothy Moran. James is survived by his son James M. Cropp, brothers Robert W. Cropp and Edgar L. Cropp Jr., sister Patricia Diederich, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 14, 2026 from Noon until 4 PM in the Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton. The Honor guard from AmVets Post #32 will provide a short ceremony at 3 PM.
