James Lawrence Zbiegien( Jimmy Z) , a longtime resident of Columbia Station and Grafton, Ohio, passed away on July 6, 2024, at Southwest General Hospice after battling pancreatic cancer and other illnesses. He was 77 years old. Jim was surrounded with love from his adoring wife Sandra when he passed.
Jim is survived by his best friend and wife, Sandy; his children, James, Tracy, Lisa (Jamie Walker), Joseph (Jaime), Randy (Erica Feiler), and Crystal (Chris) Gardner); grandchildren Kevin Marek( Emili) , Ryan Marek( Melissa) Elliott, Bennet, Scott, Courtney, Landon and Aiden and his great-grandchild Noah . He is also survived by his siblings Marianne (Scott) Miller, Andrea, Jack (Chris), Margaret Hatina, and Angela (David)Thompson, along with his numerous nephews and nieces whom he loved to pieces
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Leopold; his brothers Raymond and Leonard; and brother-in-law Danny Hatina. He dedicated his career to Ford Motor Company, serving in the engine plant in Brookpark, Ohio, until his retirement in 2009. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 4003, Columbia Station a lifetime member of the VFW in Berea Post 6676.
Beyond his professional life, Jim cherished riding his 1992 Springer Soft Tail Harley Davidson, hunting, traveling, singing karaoke, and playing Rummy. Funeral services will be held at Duke's Funeral Home on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by burial at Columbia Station Cemetery.
Jim will be remembered for his zest for life, his love for his family and food, his love of music and his story telling. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
