Jean Marie Matusik (nee Pleban), 78, of Grafton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 after a brief illness. She was born June 13th, 1940 in Welch, West Virginia. She was a graduate of Midview High School and was a lifelong resident of Grafton. Jean was employed at the Medina Telephone Company and later at Grafton-Midview Public Library. In addition, she took great pride and joy in her role as a homemaker for over 50 years. Jean was a longtime member of the Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Parish and later of Our Lady Queen of Peace. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading mysteries, sewing and needlework, and most of all, raising her four children and spending time with her family, especially her eight grandchildren. She married Gerald Matusik on June 30th, 1962 and remained happily married to Gerald for the rest of her life. Jean is survived by her husband Gerald Matusik, her four daughters Theresa (Allen) Beyler, Christine (Paul) Matusik-Plas, Lucille (Michael) Carney and Angela (Kevin) Maziarz, her eight grandchildren Erin, Seth, Nathaniel, Wesley, Corinne, Gavin, Rheanna, and Genevieve, and her siblings Eugene, Walter (Margaret), Helen, and John (Paula). She was preceded in death by her parents Anna Pleban Podulka (nee Bernaczi) and Walter Pleban, her stepfather Stanley Podulka, her brother Michael, sister-in-law Mona and brother-in-law George. Friends and family will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19th at the Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20th at Our Lady Queen of Peace 708 Erie St. Grafton, Ohio with Rev. John Seabold , pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Grafton.
