Josephine Y. Layton

Josephine Y. Layton, age 87 of Grafton passed away Saturday March 16, 2024 in the UH Elyria Regional Medical Center following a short illness. She was born June 24, 1936 in Fayette County, West Virginia and had lived in Ohio since 1963. She enjoyed being a home maker, cooking, making candy, crafts and loved bluegrass music and country music. Josephine was a member of the American Legion Post #397 in Vermilion, member of the Lorain County Friends of the MetroParks where she volunteered countless hours. She loved the owls. She is survived by her daughters Lynette Yvonne, Cynthia Dawn, Melanie Faun and by her son Shannon Patrick. Survivors also include 4 grandchildren and her special friend Glen Ashworth. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert in 1996, son Shawn Irvin  in 1997 and by her parents Joe & Opal Crouch. Visitation will be held on Friday March 22, 2024 from 10 AM until services at 12 Noon in the Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
