Maria Buzkij

Maria ( Kuchalska) Buzkij  passed away peacefully at the New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, Ohio at age 99. Born in Ukraine, Maria Buzkij was the mother of six children. Yurik Buzkij, infant son, died in 1946 while in Austria. Living children include Borys Buzkij of LaGrange, Ohio, Tamiila Novik of Parma Heights, Ohio, Tamara Jackson of Cleveland, Ohio, George Buzkij of Webster Groves, MO and Nadia Buzkij of Whitehouse , Ohio. She was married to Semen Buzkij for 60 years until he passed away in 1986. Maria was a school teacher in Ukraine and came to the United States in 1949 with her husband and four children. Her passion was reading. She loved to read. after reading most if not all the Ukrainian and Polish books at the Tremont Public Library in Cleveland, she eventually taught herself to read in English. Maria enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking for her company and telling stories about life in the old country. Most of all, she loved the family and her children.
