Mavis Hayslett Obituary

 
Mavis Murriel Hayslett, 78, of Grafton, passed away on Saturday, May 25th, 2019 at New Life Hospice in Lorain after a long illness. Mavis was born in Nicholas County, West Virginia and was the seventh child of Leslie and Elva Hayslett. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Paulette Hayslett (Logar), daughter and son-in-law Debbie (Hayslett)/ Ed Van Cooney, granddaughter Madalyn, brother Marshall Hayslett of Elyria, brother Mardolph Hayslett of Avon, sister Melba Amick of Rainelle, West Virginia, brother Mark Hayslett of Falkville, Alabama, and brother Margene “Henry” Hayslett of Carbondale, Pennsylvania, along with many, many nieces and nephews. 
Mavis was a veteran of the United States Army, where he proudly served our county for four years. After the Army, Mavis lived in Ohio and worked for 30 years at the BFGoodrich Chemical Plant in Avon Lake. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed working in the garden, playing the guitar, singing, and playing horseshoes. 
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 11am to 1pm at Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main Street Grafton with a service shortly after. After the service, burial will take place at Brookdale Cemetery, 41600 Oberlin-Elyria Road Elyria with VFW Post #1079 conducting military honors.
