Muriel Hosey Obituary

Muriel Lee Hosey, 88, of Grafton passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 following a long illness.  She was born January 5, 1934 in Orton, West Virginia to Elkie and Gladys Beane and lived in Grafton most of her life.
After graduating from Belden High School in 1951, she married Walter “Brad” Hosey on March 17, 1956 at Belden United Methodist Church.  Muriel was a loving wife and mother to her three daughters.  She worked as a sales clerk at Moelk Sales in Elyria for many years until her retirement.
Muriel was a devoted member of Belden United Methodist Church where she formed many lifelong friendships with her church family and enjoyed singing in the choir.  In the mid-70s, she played drums and sang in The Beldenaires, alongside close friends Errolyn Sooy and Tess Reisinger.  As musicians, they recorded an album and toured the tri-state area, ministering to churches and groups for over 40 years.
Muriel will be remembered for her sense of style and outgoing personality.  An easy conversationalist and thoughtful listener, she had a special ability to connect with everyone she met.  She also enjoyed shopping, sewing, and cooking homestyle meals.  Above all, Muriel had a deep sense of family.  This was most apparent at family gatherings and holidays, where she and her beloved sister Virginia served as warm and loving hosts.
Muriel is survived by daughters Kelli Hosey Mackaman of Laporte, Tracy (Tom) Fries of Grafton, and Jamie Melton of Grafton; sister Virginia Hosey; brother Gerald (Nomi) Beane; grandchildren Zach (Bianca) Fries, Tyler Fries, Jonathan Koeth, Chelsey (Clint) Mirto, and Jaiden Ortiz; great-grandchildren Emmett and Molly Fries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elkie and Gladys Beane, and husband, Brad.
