When Robert was not working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, working on projects at home, and making sure life at home was always fun. He was a family man and he made it known to everyone around him. He met his wife, Virginia, when they were in elementary school and found their way back to each other when she was nineteen and he was twenty-one. They were married on August 14, 1998 and had two twin boys, Zachary B. Grissom and Roy D. Grissom on December 9, 1998. Soon after, they had their third son, Joshua C. Grissom on October 10, 2000.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Virginia L. Grissom; their children, Zachary B. Grissom of Lagrange, Roy D. Grissom (Miranda A. Clark) of Elyria, Joshua C. Grissom of Lagrange; sister, Maxie L. Glenn (Jim A. Glenn) of Lagrange; brother, Jon-Duey T. Grissom of Korea; step-mother, Dorcus B. Grissom of Elyria; mother-in-law, Sheri L. Jarvis of Elyria; grandmother, Beaulah "Toots" Suttle of Elyria; father-in-law, David L. Jarvis of Lagrange; sister-in-law, Kara L. Jarvis (Joshua E. Gallam) of Elyria; nieces, Melrose S. Jarvis of Elyria, Bridget N. Glenn (Tyler L. Parsons) of Lagrange; nephew, John A. White of Salem, West Virginia; along with our family cat Gracie Grissom and many other beloved family and friends.
