Robert Hawke

Robert A. Hawke, 83, of Grafton, passed away at 9:37am Friday March 8, 2019 at his residence surrounded by family after a long illness.
He was born March 5, 1936 in Berea, Ohio to the late William (Bud) Hawke and Alice (Turner). He married his lovely wife Virgie (Lena) Grooms on June 15, 1963 and she survives.
He was preceded in death by his brother Glenn Hawke, Aunt Alma Hawke and grandson Nicholas Franks. He is survived by son Brian (Carol) Hawke of Beavercreek, Ohio, daughter Denise (Christopher) Franks of Wayne, Ohio, grandsons Robert, Christopher Jr., Jordan and granddaughter Angelique. Also surviving are his brothers Dennis (Kathy) Hawke of Lorain, William (Willa) Hawke of Texas and Linda Sears of Elyria along with many nieces and nephews.
Robert was a 1954 graduate of Eaton High School and joined the United States Marine Corps shortly after graduating where he received an honorable discharge. He worked at Martin J. Tobin Company, Lagrange Screw Products, Stanley Screw Machine Products and various other jobs.
He was a member of Grafton United Methodist Church. Favorite pastimes included gardening, bowling, going to antique car shows, volunteering to read to children at Franklin Elementary School and spending time with family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am Wednesday March 13th at Grafton United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Kuntz officiating. Burial will follow at Columbia Township Cemetary, Columbia Station where a graveside eulogy will be given by Pastor Dennis Zimmerman where full military rites will be conducted. A luncheon will follow at Grafton United Methodist Church.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday March 12th from 5-8pm at Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main Street Grafton, Ohio
