Robert D. Sampson

Robert David Sampson, age 62, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, in Medina, Ohio, after a long illness.

Born in Berea Ohio, Robert was known for his strength, kindness, and gentle sense of humor. Up until the very end, he maintained his kindness, grace, compassion, and deep love for his friends, children, and grandchildren. He faced his illness with remarkable courage and dignity, inspiring everyone who knew him.

Robert had a lifelong love of steam engines, fishing, and the great outdoors. He also had a passion for antique cars and enjoyed sharing that enthusiasm with friends and family. Whether he was restoring a classic vehicle, spending a quiet morning by the water, or admiring the beauty of nature, Robert found joy in life’s simple pleasures.

In his passing, Robert leaves behind his loving mother, Clara Thompson of Florida; his father, David Sampson of Florida; his brother, Tom Sampson of Columbia Station; his sister, Julie (Harry) DesRochers of Norton; his brother, Edward Thompson of Medina; and his sister, Lori Sampson.

He also leaves behind his three children: Christian (Rachel) Sampson, John (Natalie) Sampson, and Stephanie (Donny) Guinn. Robert was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, aunts, and uncles who will cherish his memory forever.

Preceding him in death were his infant son, Joshua David Sampson; his great-grandmother, Mary Sampson; his grandparents, David and Dorothy Sampson; and his grandparents, Robert and Julia Brown.

A memorial service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held on Saturday November 15, 2025 at 11 AM in the Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of a man whose heart and spirit left a lasting mark on everyone he met.

Robert’s love for his family, his passions, and his kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
