Roger E. Beane, 80, of Grafton passed away at his home early Monday morning. He was born in Grafton, Ohio on December 24, 1942, and spent his early childhood in West Virginia. Moving back to Ohio in his early years, He had several mini careers in the trades, starting with Bendix Westinghouse, then on to Invacare and Sung Seat where he designed and built specialized equipment for handicapped children. Then moved on to become a craftsman building trade show exhibits for Columbia Bay. He was a true jack of all trades, renovating and flipping many houses on the side, and always had some crazy project he was working on in his shop.
Over the years his hobbies included street cars, stock cars he raced at Lorain County Speedway, riding Tri-Sport three-wheelers in parades, building and flying remote control airplanes, building many VW powered dune buggies and show cars, riding ATVs in WV and PA and was usually the cook, stoking up an open fire and whipping up breakfast or some filling meal while on the trail. And paintball wars. ... He loved playing Rambo!
Roger will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his son, Tim, Grandson Ryan (Amanda) Beane, great-grandson Wesley, and granddaughter Stephanie Beane. His Significant Other of many years, Linda Reaser, and her daughters Penny Jarvis, and the late Michelle Alheit, grandchildren Dylan and Devin Alheit and Lyndsay (Zack) Hall, great-grandchildren Ivey, Elizabeth, Dawson, Nova, Noah, and Jameson Hall
Brothers Gene (Ginger) Beane, Rick (Sue) Peggs, Homer (Debra) Peggs, Michael (Darlene) Peggs. Sisters Patricia (Ray) Dill, Rosalie (Jim) Snyder, LaGretta (Bill) Stewart, Barbara (Ken) Nimon, Laura (Donald) Ward, Lavonne "George" (Joe) Smarr, Sharon (Jackie) Brady, Loretta (Johnny) Reese, Roselee (Dennis) Shaver, and Sissy McCumbers. Many Many nieces and nephews, cousins, and loved ones including great friends Elaine Beane, Sean McDonough, Brad Setliff, Jay Cox, and many others.
Roger was predeceased by his father, Basil Beane, his mother Velma Peggs, and brother Jack (Margot) Bean.
Visitation will be held at the Duke Funeral Home1021 Main St. Grafton Sunday, October 22 at 3 p.m. with service following at 4 p.m. A private burial will be at a later date.
