Virgil Pettry Obituary

Virgil L. Pettry, age 92 of Eaton Township passed away Thursday January 7, 2021 in the University Elyria Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born August 22, 1928 in Edwight, West Virginia and was an honored veteran of the Korean War and was very proud of his service. Virgil loved going to church, bowling, gardening and watching the cars go by. " Just Wave " he would say as the car horns would honk going by. He is survived by his children Scott ( Peg ) Pettry and their children Jeremy and Nick, son Randy ( Delsie ) Pettry and their children Randy Jr and Sarah, Daughter Donna Pettry Lang Chafin ( Deceased ) and her children Jessica, Kristy and John Jr, son Shelby Pettry and his children Carrie, Jordan and Jackie and by his daughter Janice Pettry ( Bob ) Johnson and their son Tyler.along with numerous great grandchildren. Virgil was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Pettry, his daughter Donna Pettry Lang Chafin and by his parents Vannie & Bertha Pettry. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, there will be a visitation limited to the immediate family on Tuesday January 12, 2020 from 12 Noon until services at 1 PM at the Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton . Burial will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans. There will be a gathering and celebration of Virgil's life at a later date  once it is safe to do so. On-line condolences may be left at www.dukefuneralhome.com
