Wayne D Martin, 76, of Lorain, passed away peacefully, on February 17, 2024 at Towne Center, in Avon Lake. He was surrounded by his loved ones & the staff that he always called "his angels."
Wayne served our country, as a proud Marine, earning three purple hearts. When he returned home from Vietnam, he began working for the Lorain Steel Mill, where he stayed for 42 years. Wayne lived his entire life for his family & the people he loved. All of that love was reciprocated, by the many, that referred to him as a "True Warrior" & that still consider him their family. Wayne loved to golf, travel, visit casinos, random cookouts at his home, Christmas with his family, & bowling; which he & his best friend, of over 50 years, Bill Kallas, did for many years. Wayne was a devoted husband, father, family member, friend, & Marine. Even during his hardest days, he always managed to say something, that would make others laugh.
Wayne is survived by his wife Vanessa (Hall) Martin. His daughters Lynne (Jim), Lora (Dan), Melissa (Joseph) & his sister Jackie. He is also survived by his grandsons, Shawn & Nicholas, four great grandchildren, & many cousins, nieces, & nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his brother AL, & sister Susanne. Visitation will be held Thursday February 22, 2024 in the Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton from 5 to 8 PM where funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday February 23, 2024. Burial will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 10175 Rawiga Rd.Seville, Ohio on Friday February 23, 2024 at 2:15 PM SHARP. Please meet at the cemetery.
Now reunited with his Marine brothers, he lived his life, steadfastly, to the term "Semper Fi". Wayne lived his life, always faithful, and never wavered from that.
