Wiley Stephen Martin of Eaton Township passed away on December 22, 2019, probably of orneriness. Mr. Martin was born in Sutton, West by God Virginia on October 14, 1949 to Melvin and Bonnie (nee Ramsey) Martin. He came to Willoughby, Ohio in 1960, kicking and screaming the whole way. He graduated from Willoughby South High School and attended Cleveland State University (Fenn) and Lakeland Community College, majoring in Engineering. He came to Lorain County and Eaton Township in 1978 to work at Invacare as an Industrial Engineer and Foreman. In 1980 he went into the door installation and repair business for Kinnear and worked for other companies after that. He last worked for Action Door of Lorain County.
In 1970 he met Diane Marie Bollinger and they married in 1972 and had three daughters, Heather Diane, Shannon Andrea, and Kimberly Dawn.
In the sixties and seventies, he was very involved in Western style Square Dancing. This being where he met Diane after their parents had met. He belonged to Broken Wheels Squares and Cilo Teens. He was a caller for both, Past President of Cleveland Area Callers Association, and taught lessons for both clubs along with Tappan Squares and independently.
In the eighties he joined the Masonic fraternity and George A. Holley Lodge #745 in Willoughby (Now consolidated with Temple #28 where he was a plural member). He then joined LaGrange #399 where he served as Worshipful Master twice, Marshall Chapter #47 RAM where he was High Priest for three years and secretary for over twenty years (plural member of Wakeman #177), Elyria Council #86 R&SM, Illustrious Master three times, Elyria Commandery, Commander twice and recorder for 10+ years, Bethel #55 IOJD, Associate Guardian, Lyndon Chapter #361 Order of Eastern Star, Worthy Patron five times, North Central Council #234 AMD, Sovereign Master, twice. He was elected a member of Ohio Priory #18, Knights of the York Cross of Honor, he also was a former member of Scottish Rite, Valley of Cleveland, yankee jurisdiction.
He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Bonnie Martin nee Ramsey, his brother Melvin Wayne (PM) and a granddaughter, Catlin Briar Long.
He is survived by his wife Diane Martin (PM), his daughters, Heather Long (PHQ), Shannon Martin (MM) and Kimberly Barker (PHQ). Grandchildren Brannon Long, Dominick Rivera, Shaylin Martin, Teagan Barker and Abbigale Barker, his nieces Melanie (PWA) and Jennifer, and his nephew Melvin III.
Memorial Services will be Sunday December 29, 2019 at 3PM at the Columbia Baptist Church 25514 Royalton Rd. Columbia Station.. Masonic services will be provided and so will a light lunch. Arrangements are being handled by the Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton. Memorial donations may be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
